YOLO!!!

In the last class on B days I have an issue. I have already somewhat talked about this last Thursday, but the issue continued into today. After today I have some more insight as to what is going on. Apparently one girl used to date one of the boys in class, pretty recently from what I can tell. I guess it did not end super well because they were not really nice to each other today. There’s another girl that’s not involved at all, but she was stirring the pot today. She’s the same one that stirred the pot last time! I said that she shouldn’t talk about other people and she said “I can talk about whoever I want”. I asked, “How would you feel if someone was talking about you?” and she said she wouldn’t care. How do you get middle schoolers to be nice to each other? My cooperating teacher reminded me that i can refer to the “Ideal Art Room” poster that the students put together and ask her if it’s kind or respectful. I forgot that was there so next time I will use it! Hopefully that will at least stop it from continuing in the art room.

I’ve answered the phone a couple of times in the room because my cooperating teacher has asked me to or she has been out of the room. I am never sure how to answer it! I usually say “This is Miss Maney” so they know they haven’t reached my cooperating teacher, but I am never sure if that is correct. Am I supposed to use my first name? Will the ladies in the office remember my first name? If it’s another teacher they will most likely not know my first name. I just feel really awkward doing it.

At the end of the day today, I was standing outside of the door and one of my students went flying past so I said “Have a good day!” to him and he responded with “YOLO!” Goofy middle schoolers.
